From back gardens to building sites
Homeowners come to us for garden levelling, patio and driveway bases, and clearing ground for extensions or garden rooms. Builders, landscapers and contractors ask us for an operated machine to keep their own projects on schedule.
Whatever the size of the job, we start by understanding the work, the access and the ground — then recommend the machinery that makes sense. If you need something we don't list, ask: we're happy to talk about other machinery.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Does mini digger hire include an operator?
Yes. Every mini digger hire from Atlas comes with an operator. We do not offer self-drive hire, so you don't need to worry about operating the machine, insurance for driving it, or transporting it yourself.
Can I hire a digger and dumper together?
Yes, you can ask for both. A dumper is often the most efficient way to move excavated soil or aggregate away from the digger, especially in long gardens or sites with restricted access. We'll confirm what is suitable when we quote.
What information do you need for a quotation?
Your job postcode, a description of the work, any measurements you have, the narrowest access width, and photographs of the area and the route in. Details of gates, steps, slopes, overhead cables or tight corners are also very helpful.
Can you work in gardens with restricted access?
Often, yes — but we can't confirm until we know the access. Please measure the narrowest point (gates, side passages, between walls) and send photographs. We'll tell you honestly whether a machine is likely to fit.
Can you help with spoil removal?
Spoil removal can be discussed as part of your quotation, including options such as grab lorry arrangements. Whatever is agreed will be set out clearly in your written quote.
Do you undertake small domestic jobs?
We welcome domestic enquiries, from garden levelling to small trench runs. Get in touch with the details and we'll let you know whether we can help.
Which areas do you cover?
We take enquiries across Scotland and northern England — from Glasgow and Edinburgh to the Borders, Northumberland, Cumbria and Yorkshire. Availability and any travel costs are confirmed when quoting.
What affects the price?
The machinery needed, operator time, the duration of the job, location, access conditions and any additional services such as spoil removal or material deliveries. We don't publish set prices because every job is different.
Do I need to be at the property?
It helps to be available at the start of the job to confirm the work area and any hazards. If you can't be there, let us know when quoting and we can talk through the arrangements.
How do I arrange a booking?
Send us the job details by phone, WhatsApp or the quote form. Once you've received and accepted your quotation, we'll agree a suitable date with you.
Tell us about your job
Send a description and a few photographs and we'll come back to you with a written quotation. Costs depend on machinery, operator time, duration, location, access and any extra services.
